How You Can Have a Happy Life Mingling with Society.
Being healthy takes purpose and some planning. In our busy lives adding exercise and healthy eating habits sometimes falls by the wayside because we don’t find the time to pencil those things into our daily agenda.
In the previous posts talking about our Handbook for Life we covered Health and Personality.
The following list may be short, but it is power packed and so important!
Society:
25. Call your family often.
26. Each day give something good to others.
27. Forgive everyone for everything..
28. Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
It’s all about building and maintaining relationships with family and friends. We all know this takes time and effort or else time passes by and we have not spent the time with the people we care about.
I don’t know about you, but we purpose to gather with family a lot. Every Friday our two daughters and their children come to our house for breakfast. I can sure say that I spend time with people under the age of 6, since my 4 grandsons are all under that age. Little guys keep you on your toes with all the energy they have. I’ll have to work on spending time with people over 70 though. (before I get there myself!)
My 3 sisters and I purpose to spend time together on our birthdays and also meet together on my mothers birthday in honor of her passing. We have fun together at other times, but birthdays do not pass by without some sort of celebration.
In my honest opinion one of the most important points on the above list is #27 – Forgive everyone for everything. If you have a forgiving spirit, it is then that you can easily fulfill all the other things like doing good to others, making people smile and maintaining loving relationships.
Since I am very fond of quotes, let me close this out with a few supportive ones.
A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.

To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love.
In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness. –Robert Muller

Hum, well the family thing is out for me, but I’m doing okay with the rest I think. As much as I love working at home, I find it’s all too easy to let days go by without seeing anyone. One day my landlord actually popped by to make sure I was still alive and kicking – seriously! Thanks for the inspiration Lynn.

Hey, that’s kind of humorous Marty. I actually like staying home, so I can fall into not mingling if I am not careful. Let’s add something fun to each day!

Lynn,
You have given myself and others so much to take end with action screaming. I love this list and take it to heart.
We have a family renunion every 2 years since the begining of our name.
It has gotten us to realize just how important family is. Some are honored and next they are no longer with us. If treat people as each time you see them it may be the last. More of your giving and sharing will get done.
Never look back and live in today and the future. Just go off your celebrating life everyday. I honor one person per day with just sending a warm card and gift. This should be the first thing I do after praying for an hour each day.
It makes my life so much better. I also love forgiving people. Hey, short of death, life is something to be celebrated daily. So, do not allow one more minute without say hello to someone.
Lynn, your so inspirational and one of our great coaches. I do love your friendship and look forward in learning more. Thank you for sharing this valued information.

William, Isn’t forgiving so freeing! We should not waste our days in hurt and bitter feelings, but instead appreciate each day and live it the best we can.

Lynn,
love the part about spending time with people over the age of 70! I taught web design to high school students for several years and realized that young people today have absolutely NO RESPECT for their elders. As a matter of fact, the older you are the less respect they have for you because the kids today are only interested in “what you can do for them” and obviously, someone in their 70′s can’t do anything for them, or so they think.
When I was growing up as a kid I was always taught to respect elders and I did. Even if they are were mean or unpleasant, which was not often. I figured that they have worked their whole life, maybe raised families, or served in the military or suffered through many trials and tribulations at this point in their life and just deserve respect.
So spending time with older folks is a great idea! Thank you for thinking about people over 70!

I love this post, Lynn. The time I spend with my family is so precious. Good thing for me, that my sister and I live pretty close to each other in Florida. i get to see her and my nephews very often. Part of what I found was true for me was that I loved to spend some time by myself in meditation or just writing, but I also love to sit and have good conversations with my friends and my family. A good mixture of both of those makes my day go very good.

Lynn,
Thanks for sharing this inspiring list on how to have a happy life. I am close with my family and friends and I try to spend time with them every week. Sometimes it just means reaching out by phone when I have a super busy week but doing this really helps me to stay balanced and happy.
I also really liked this quote “To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness.” –Robert Muller
Forgiveness is the one of the keys to maintaining good relationships with your friends and family members.

I think forgiving people for anything is definitely a powerful thing and can be a hard thing. I had a hard time forgiving my mother for what she did to my sisters, my grandparents, and myself… until last year. It was funny as she found me on Facebook and sent a friend request. She wanted to be buddy buddy, but before that… I had to get all that pent up rage and opinion out of me. I even shared my letter with my father and he actually cried. He had not known how hurt I had been. And once I sent it to her… I felt better. I don’t mind talking to her… I was just happy to finally say what I had to and we are mending things slowly but surely.

You are so inspiring. I like the forgiveness part, I remembered an encounter earlier this morning. I argued with a stranger because of some change in my bill. Thanks for sharing, this post is very meaningful.

Powerful list Lynn,
I like all of of them and the one that cuaght more my attention is what people think of you is non of your business and spend time with youg and elderly people.
Most of us are caught in the fear of rejection that is why the opinon of others is importnat to us.
This is the opposite of being and feeling free, it’s about playing not to lose instead of playing to win.
I have to admit I do not sepnd time with children or elederly pople for a lack of time, something to think about you are so right!
Thanks Lynn…
Hello Lynn,
I call my family and friends often, send message I’m never really out of touch for long. Helping other is very impotant in life, we should all do this!
Forgive everyone for everything … this can be tricky! I can forgive but forgetting I’m not so great at!
Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6, this often happens like it or not in rural France … ones home can quickly and without invitation become a drop in centre… ours especially!
Try to make at least three people smile each day I LIKE!
What other people think of you is none of your business…. I do care though!
Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick I concur with this!
